Join the #HalfMyDAF Challenge
If you or someone you know has a donor-advised fund (DAF), your donations can have an even bigger impact through the #HalfMyDAF movement. Since 2020, the #HalfMyDAF community has awarded over $97 million in grants.
More than $326 billion sits in donor-advised funds across the country. The goal of #HalfMyDAF is to inspire donors to put their money to work by giving away unrestricted matching grants. If you are a DAF holder and commit to spending down half of the funding that was in your DAF at the start of the year by October 8, 2026, all of the grants you make will be eligible for a match from #HalfMyDAF.
#HalfMyDAF will award dollar-for-dollar matches of up to $5,000 in two drawings: June 18, 2026 and October 8, 2026. At each drawing, one nonprofit will be randomly selected to receive a $25,000 match!
Here’s how it works:
- A donor makes a donation through their DAF.
- The donor then registers this gift with the #HalfMyDAF program.
- The organization receives the donor’s gift AND is eligible for an additional matching gift.
Every nonprofit you support through your DAF will be eligible for a match and you can complete as many nominations as you’d like. I invite you to consider making a DAF gift to Americans for Financial Reform Education Fund this spring and register this gift with #HalfMyDAF. The more donors who commit to spending down at least half of their DAF and give to us, the more likely we are to receive a matching grant.
